Plumcot

Plumcot is a unique, self-fertile hybrid of a plum and an apricot (3-5m) that produces sweet, intensely flavored fruit with a smooth skin and a rich, juicy texture. Ideal for home orchards or large pots (minimum 40cm diameter) in Auckland gardens, it produces beautiful white blossoms in early spring with fruit ripening from January to February. Grow in a sunny, sheltered position in well-drained, fertile soil with protection from late frosts. Maintenance includes regular watering during fruit development, annual pruning in late summer to maintain shape, and a winter/spring spray program to prevent fungal diseases.
